Fontana Arte ended 2013 in style. In addition to opening its new flagship store in Milan, two of its models, Yumi and Yupik, won prestigious awards during the Good Design Awards. But more about that shortly, let us first return philips led to the new flagship store.
To celebrate the festive inauguration, two totems were constructed in the store, as metaphorical representations of the pillars that hold up the company. One of them, built of various levels of Fontana and Uovo table lamps, symbolised for the rich history of Fontana Arte. The other, composed of several levels of Blom lights, reflected the new international impact of the company.
The Fontana Arte flagship store, designed by architects philips led Fabio Calvi and Paolo Brambilla, represents philips led a space that connects past and present, philips led in a perfect transition. This new showroom is a space which perfectly interprets the Fontana Arte philosophy: “The real light in a beautiful home”. Yupik and Yumi among the winners at the Good Design Awards
As mentioned earlier, Fontana Arte won two awards at the latest edition of the Good Design Awards. Good Design presents awards annually for the best new product designs and graphics. These awards are regarded as the most prestigious philips led of its kind worldwide.
The first award went to the Yupik , a versatile item designed by Form Us With Love , which can be placed upright, lying on its side or can even be hung up. The long cable makes this lamp extremely portable. The foam with which it is manufactured ensures that it is protected against shocks and falls.
The other winner is the Yumi ,a design of Shigeru Ban . This stately yet subtle floor lamp is both fragile and sturdy. It looks very delicate but thanks to its body of composite material wrapped in a carbon fibre coat, this beauty is stronger than it looks.
2013 was a magnificent year for the Italian company, but 2014 will undoubtedly be as good! The Fontana lamp from Fontana Arte can certainly be referred to as a ‘classic’. This iconic, white table lamp, designed by Max Ingrand, has performed outstandingly for sixty years.
In honour of this anniversary, the Fontana has been given a new look after its sixty years of existence. May we present to you the Fontana Black Edition. Naturally, the lines have not been altered, but the elegant satin-white has been replaced by strong, glossy black. Wondering if this Black Edition is going to do as well its illustrious predecessor? We are convinced that it will!
