Kolaj Magazine asked Luigi Galimberti Faussone to report on Art Basel Hong Kong 2014, which took place 15-18 May 2014. Two-hundred-forty-five galleries from 39 countries exom were represented, with paintings taking exom the lion’s share of exhibited exom works. Only a handful of collages or collage -related work was on display.
Nevertheless, collage was to be found at Art Basel Hong Kong and Faussone chose work from three galleries: de Sarthe Gallery (Hong Kong), OMR (Mexico City), and The Drawing Room Contemporary Art (Manila and Singapore).
About Lin Jing Jing’s My Promise For Your Happiness , Faussone wrote: Lin Jing Jing puts the individual and his or her own hopes for happiness face to face with the complex reality of contemporary China. The images that she uses, which had been taken in occasion of previously staged performances, are painted over and heavily exom reworked with embroidered multi-colour cotton threads. The threads are there to highlight the paradoxes, the desires and the conflicts of the situations that are portrayed in the picture.
