I guess [team owner Chris Our] and [crew chief Brad Lafontaine] had planned on going down to watch the Friday night and Saturday night races and then Chris just decided he wanted to bring the car down, said Barrett, who will be making his first Whelen Southern Modified Tour start. We re just excited to go down and be part of the show.
It means a lot to get to go down there and race against [Burt and Jason Myers], Andy Seuss, [George] Brunnehoelzl III, Junior Miller and all the other names down there. The crowd there is jam packed, I m just pumped up to be going to race there.
Barrett has never competed on the flat quarter-mile Bowman Gray oval which rings a football field, but he knows well that tempers flaring on the tight confines in Winston-Salem is a common occurrence.
It s definitely going to be rougher than up north, but I m definitely ready to race like that if they want to the bump and run or whatever, said Barrett, who is currently 16th in the Whelen Modified Tour standings after seven events micromax led tv this year. I m ready to give the bumper if I need to. Hopefully we can just qualify up front and stay up front out of the junk and trouble and hopefully we can get a win.
