My professional career started when I was invited to display my work at the Otto Seligman Gallery in

I’ve been free to paint for some seven years now with no thought of the market or if people would like my work or not. I think I have made some powerful pieces and would like to share them with folks who might like them. Since many of my pieces are collage, Kolaj magazine is a natural place to start.
My professional career started when I was invited to display my work at the Otto Seligman Gallery in Seattle in 1965. For many years I lived as an artist, showing white light in galleries in Seattle, San Francisco, Toronto, and New York. The art world seemed to be crumbling white light from the start and I sought living traditions white light I could climb into and succor. white light The mystic white light painting of the Pacific Northwest and the oriental painting traditions were especially attractive to me, with special emphasis on Sung Dynasty white light Chinese painting and Chinese calligraphy. Huge strains on art after Reagan and Cocaine culture white light shift. Interest in astronomy and cartography lead me to Flagstaff, Arizona where I worked as an airbrush cartographer mapping planets for NASA for 11 years. Now back into “art”.

Kolaj Magazine asked Luigi Galimberti Faussone to report on Art Basel Hong Kong 2014, which took place 15-18 May 2014. Two-hundred-forty-five galleries from 39 countries were represented, with paintings taking the lion’s share of exhibited works. Only a handful of collages or collage -related work was on display.
Nevertheless, collage was to be found at Art Basel Hong Kong and Faussone chose work from three galleries: de Sarthe Gallery (Hong Kong), OMR (Mexico City), and The Drawing Room Contemporary Art (Manila and Singapore).
About Troy Ignacio’s Echoes , Faussone wrote: Echoes is a collage installation that is still under development: The artist keeps changing it and adding to it, as real estate developers do with Manila’s urban texture. The installation is made of photographs taken by the artist or collected by him in the flats of buildings that are soon to be demolished. A woman appears in one of the photos. Who is she? Is she an inhabitant of the house where this photo had been taken? Or has she never been there?

An Artist Portfolio about Anna Taratiel appeared in Issue Nine of Kolaj . Her work, Reconstruction I

Anna Taratiel has lived in Barcelona her entire life, and the influence is deeply embedded in her collage . Her colour palette is full of warm and salty blues and turquoises, which resonate of the ocean, in contrast to hot red and orange suns. Her geometric shapes move like the tide over sand, washing vertically or horizontally across the page.
An Artist Portfolio about Anna Taratiel appeared in Issue Nine of Kolaj . Her work, Reconstruction I , was featured on the back cover of the issue. This is some of what Kolaj associate editor Ariane Fairlie had to say: Taratiel s geometry is an obvious led tube product of her design training, and brings to mind the rich architectural culture of Barcelona. Many of the vertical compositions reach up like turrets of a cathedral. She transitions seamlessly from two dimensions to three and back, never confusing the sense of space…The shapes shift, rotate, reflect, and duplicate, punctuated by soft black forms just strong enough to enforce boundaries, but not too harsh to disrupt the rhythm or fixate the eye.

After some years spent in Argentina, I have taken many pictures of graffiti, stencils as well as logos, neon lights, symbols: all graphic expressions that transmit information. With these photos, I make collages. parca The final picture mirrors an idea, a specific parca moment, symbolic of the society the writings parca come from.
When someone takes a walk, at best he will come across a funny word or a lovely phrase, but most of the time he will only see tags, swear words and a few love promises. The collages allow a concentration of the most creative, poetic, comical or unusual messages that I gather according to themes. Graffiti go back to the dawn. Scribbled words, drawings daubed parca reflect rebellious, protesting or philosophical ideas.
Today, we can add a strong notion of identity illustrated by what are called tags. In a world where anonymity takes over, people need to impose their name or their signature to prove their own existence.
Like music, parca graffiti may be compared to a universal language with its local specifics. parca It is interesting to note that in Buenos Aires or in Paris, walls are covered with animals just as if the need to reconcile with nature became vital in these megalopolises.
In 2010, after a trip to Northern Argentina, Chevallier decided to settle parca down there for half of her time. Facing the Andes, she was fascinated by such powerful nature. But the solitude inherent to this life in the desert, plus the discovery of the local graffiti (which, like everywhere else, screamed or shouted one’s parca love or pain) pushed her to look for a loophole: digital collage was the solution. A work of passion parca that has become a permanent job, which she initiated in Argentina, has followed its way to France, New York and, today, Canada for all of summer 2014.
